A personal eye.
A love of detail.
Motifs by Parveen grew from a family connection to textiles and Parveen Motiwala’s love of fabrics and Indian embroidery. Each selection reflects her eye for detail; her own designs take shape through close collaboration with artisans.

A note from Parveen
Textiles have been part of my family’s world for generations. My own path began in banking. I am a graduate with an MBA and spent around fifteen years in the industry, including roles at HDFC Bank and Axis Bank, before taking a break to raise my children.
When I was ready to return to work, I wanted to build something of my own. I chose to return to the fabrics and embroidery I had always loved. That choice became Motifs by Parveen.
What draws me to a piece is often a small detail: the shape of a leaf, a carefully formed petal, the way a motif sits on the fabric. Through Motifs, I want more people to discover this work and appreciate the skill behind it.
I hope you feel elegant and entirely yourself in a Motifs piece—and find something in its details that stays with you.

Flowers and leaves, shaped by hand
Phool Patti is a form of appliqué associated with Aligarh and Rampur in Uttar Pradesh. Small pieces of fabric are cut, shaped or folded into petals and leaves, arranged into floral motifs, and stitched by hand onto a base cloth.
At Motifs, it is one of the crafts Parveen explores through her love of textiles, colour and detail.

From design to handwork
At Motifs, we develop designs, select and supply fabrics, and work directly with artisans to bring the details to life. It is a conversation between our ideas and their skill, from the first design to the finished handwork.
We explore Indian handwork and embroidery through contemporary silhouettes, with attention to how fabric, colour and craft come together.
